Happy New Year!!!

Wow, the holidays were crazy, as usual, and I am just getting back on track.

Right before the holiday craziness hit, I was featured in the Lifestyles section of the Noblesville Daily Times. My story hit the week after my husband's story so that was fun for us both. I was also featured in the December issue of Carmel Magazine. I want to thank both Heather Hafer (from the paper) and Meredith Cummings (from Carmel Magazine) for taking the time to interview me and write the articles. Thank you ladies!!!

During the holidays, I had exhibits at both the Carmel Barnes & Noble, and The SullivanMunce Art Center in Zionsville.( I have proposed a "History of Handbags" idea for the SullivaMunce Museum, so we'll see.) These exhibits kept me busy with orders for holiday gifts. I also started selling on Etsy.com. Check it out when you can. It's a web site, much like Ebay, but all items are handmade arts and crafts. It's addictive, let me tell you! My username for my Etsy shop is also theartofdonna.

Other than that, great new things are happening. First of all, I have some of my art work in a new gallery in Sweetwater, Tennessee. It's called Morris Galleries and it is owned and run by artist Susan Morris. I am honored to have my art work in such a beautiful gallery!!! If you are ever in Sweetwater, please stop by and have a look. When they get their web site up, I will post info about it here so you can take a look from the comfort of your own chair.

I am still working on being in new stores and galleries and always thinking of that next big creative move, so I will keep you posted.

Until next time...

New Barnes & Noble Exhibit, etc.
Hope this finds you all well. I have been very busy getting ready for the holiday season! I have a new exhibit at the Carmel Barnes & Noble which starts November 1st and ends December 1st. Hope that you are able to stop by and find that perfect art handbag or piece of art jewelry. I will also be exhibiting at the SullivanMunce Center in Zionsville. There will be a kickoff reception there the morning of November 17th and I believe my art will be there for purchase until mid-December. Now I'm off to hole up in my studio and get my work finished. Hope you all have safe, happy holidays and enjoy all the wonderful things that surround you!

Best,

Donna

Post Barnes & Noble Show, etc.
Hi again!

Sorry it has taken me so long to write. It has been a long summer to say the least!

The Barnes & Noble show was a hit! I think we counted about 50 people, not including those who were already at the bookstore and just happened to wonder by. I gave a short discussion then answered questions about my art work. I also gave away two art handbags and a piece of art jewelry so that was very fun. I sold many of the pieces that were on display so I hope to get some new work completed and posted on this site very soon.

After that, I set my nose to the grindstone and completed three pieces of art work for the Red Bull Art of Can exhibit (Chicago leg). I created three pieces of art work: one a pop culture sculpture titled "Barbie-Queen of the Mechanical Red Bull"; the second was an ensemble of fashion accessories (earrings, handbag and shoes)  made with pieces of Red Bull can titled "Fashion-A-Bull"; and lastly two cigar box wall hangings titled "Unbelieve-A-Bull World" which I think would make a cool series to promote Red Bull around the world.

In July, I learned that I was chosen by Red Bull to be in the "Red Bull Out of Home Campaign." That means that two of my three pieces of art will be displayed in various places in Chicago with my name attached. So, be sure to check out redbullartofcan.com. Artists from all over the world have contributed some very wonderful art made from Red Bull cans.

Next, I am creating and donating some art work to our local Eiteljorg Museum. This year my husband and I will be attending their yearly fund raiser "The Buckaroo Bash" so it will be fun to see my work get auctioned off.

Until next time...

Show at Barnes & Noble, Carmel, Indiana
I am very excited that the Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Carmel, Indiana, will have my art handbags and jewelry on display for the entire month of June. The month-long exhibition will have a great kick-off event on Friday, June 1st at 7:00 p.m. at the store. Many friends and supporters will be there. I'll post everything that happened (along with some pix) after the event is over...and I am able to catch my breath!
